The event was introduced by Jamie Wilks, the partner and the lawyer at the McMillan Binch Mendelsohn LLP and chaired by CIC Toronto Branch president Keith Martin on July 17, 2008 at the Brookfield Place in Toronto.

Mr. Michael Adams started his presentation by providing background information about the Canada’s World, the collaborative, non partisan and non ideological initiative focuses on how Canada and Canadians can play a more significant role in an international arena.

Mr. Adams continued his presentation by introducing the Canada’s World Poll which was conducted in January 9-22, 2008 by Environics Research on behalf of Canada’s World and interviewed 2001 (15 yrs and up) ordinary Canadian citizen.

Later, Mr. Adams emphasized the importance of the poll as a new and innovative research that is the first of its kind to provide in-depth objective view of Canadians about where they see Canada and Canadians standing among other nations in the world. Mr. Adams described the poll as not being a Canadian defense policy but a public opinion through measuring Canadians’ experiences, connections, perceptions and priorities.

Finally, Mr. Adams shared the survey result with the audience. He evaluated the responses for the survey questions asked within the poll and provided relevant examples for the significant ones that helped to shape the outcome of the poll.

Following a brief question and answer session, the guests were able to personally meet Mr. Adams at a reception.

Note: You can find the entire poll report and the coverage of the results at www.igloo.org.
